Matt Safara
The 22 year old, former Jr. Project Runway contestant, Matt Safara stole the show with his fall line. His inspiration with this line was to stay true to his “unapologetic” self and design garments that he could see himself gracing a room in. Stepping away from his usual colorful designs, he chose to stick with a more chic and block colored tone. My favorite look, paired with a satin legging, was a crop sweatshirt that stopped right below the nipple with a crystal-mesh detailing that asymmetrically draped down to the knees. If you are want to break barriers, are confident with who you are, and don’t give a damn about the opinions of others then you have to get into this collection! This young designer has truly put his stamp on the fashion industry and I am excited to see what he has in store for us to come.
Rene Tyler: Noir et Blanc collection
Rene’ Tyler’s plus size designs were a refreshing site to see on the runway. As the first model vivaciously flaunted her curves down the runway, I heard myself yelling “Yassss”. Perisian style inspired, this collection included a host of elegant Houndstooth capes/ dresses and ruffle suits that boldly stated that fashion is for all. Rene’s designs have been worn by celebrities such as Orange Is The New Black, LavernCox and recording artist Marsha Ambrosius. The designer is noted for famously stating, “It doesn’t matter if you’re a size 4 or size 34, fashion is for everyone” and I could not agree more!
