This international runway show was a promotional event highlighting Hong Kong fashion designers. With hopes of introducing these talented designers with international buyers.Three designers were featured. 112 Mountain Yam, Anveglosa, and Heaven Please+. I left fashion week Hong Kong impressed and inspired.
Mountain Yam showcased one of his two labels, this one being his ready to wear line bearing his namesake, 112 Mountainyam. The other being a couture label, MYam Atelier. Awarded the dynamic style icon award in 2015 , and one of the 40 under 40 design talents of today. Yam describes his brand as a combination of “sportswear and partywear elements”. His FW2019 collection downed the name Hide & Seek”. Humans tend to hide in their comfort zones. “It’s time to be brave and face them!” I’d love to do so. Especially draped in Yams African elephant print 3D shirt dress.
Anveglosa by Annette Chan caught everyone’s attention with black lamb skin leather Pieces. Stand outs in her collection included a double-breasted lambskin leather peplum jacket. Her Emerald pleated lambskin leather midi skirt also caught my eye. Chans belief that leather clothing is not only about functionality, resonated through her figure flattering, contemporary line. Without a doubt a brand that will be timeless for years to come.
Heaven Please+ was founded in 2011, “bringing individuality to simple clothing”. Lary Cheung and Yi Chan include art and musical influences. The brand has designed several costumes for Hong Kong artists and award show presentations. Inspiration for this collection were primarily by Armada portrait of Elizabeth I. Through this collection the brand teleports viewers from the Golden age, to the space age. It is important to note their first retail store was chosen as a must see, by Hong Kong Louis Vuitton City Guide 2017. I’ve already added this to my travel list.
