One of the most extravagant show’s that I attended at New York Fashion Week! I guess you can say the Hakan Akkaya FW 2019 runway show started at the door. The fashionistas that attended the show where full of glitz and glamour that was just as over the top as the show!
The Turkish designer Hakan Akkaya, has the magic touch when it come to turning rock & roll into brilliant works of art. This season’s collection was the true definition of rock star-chic. Each looks that strutted down the runway was luxurious, edgy and trendsetting. The exaggerated shoulder pads, rocker hair, studded motor cycle leather jackets and exquisite sequined tailored suits, all gave the show a futuristic vibe.
Akkaya’s line is strong, cool and made to perfection. This presentation was sophisticated, dark, and on the cutting edge of fashion. Each piece was well made to compliment a women’s figure. The designs for the menswear were also very impeccable! Exaggerated smokey eyes, slick and spiked hair was the perfect combination to complete each look.
During the show I spotted a few A-list Instagram socialites and celebrities in the front row of the show, as well as a few influencers were in attendance and huge fans of his collection. Akkaya seemed to be popular among the celebrity stylist who were there eagerly looking for the next Akkaya “it” look for their clients. On that note Hakan Akkaya’s FW19 collection with its rock and roll, futuristic style will definitely be hitting the red carpet award shows pretty soon!
