A line up of the fiercest models I had seen all fashion week strutted the runway. Although mostly covered, they exuded a sensual confidence that was palpable. If I had the opportunity to grace the New York Fashion Week stage dressed in House of Harlienz, I would be walking on clouds as well. That dream is far fetched, so for now I will reminisce on the outstanding collection presented on February 12. It was a perfect start to my birthday, I was honored to be in attendance.
Fashion designer Haya Albuainain presented her collection of perfectly tailored pieces. Coming from a very conservative country, I was impressed with how versatile and wearable her entire line was. Nude colors complementing numerous skin tones, and colorful hues very vivid and rich were used. The fabrics were literally breathtaking.

Each look was complimented with fine jewelry by designer Ghada Rashid. Her brand Ghada Al Buainain is renowned for being fine jewelry featuring unconventional materials. Ghada Al Buainain’s current collection is entitled Pipe in Gold, “Inspired by pipes to form an ultimate simplicity.” I am obsessed with her pipe in rose gold earrings and pipe in yellow gold twisted ring.
Both Qatari based designers collaborated in one show for New York Fashion Week. Together they are paving a new way for women to wear modest clothing and jewelry in a modern way. Not only in countries where modest is the law and women wear the same thing, but all over the world.
