Summer is swiftly coming to an end but the jewelry showcased at Metal and Smith is still hot! The carefully curated selection of international jewelry designers did not disappoint.  Check out some of my favorite finds below.

Designer ReRe Corocoran’s signature design concept is inspired by the hexagon. She has taken a shape that symbolizes individuality and versatility and transformed it into wearable art. ReRe expanded on her signature Hex Collection by showcasing her Color  Capsule. Along with a fresh color palette, a new level of versatility is added with the capability to link multiple pieces together, making different color combinations and lengths a possibility.  She also presented an 18k yellow gold over sterling silver ball pendant. The pendant is filled with 24k gold flaked lip balm.

Tracey Beale has a motto “Jewelry isn’t necessary so why should it make sense?” The Baltimore Maryland based designer has a uniquely artistic approach. For instance incorporating the shattered windshield glass from when her car was burglarized, into her Geist necklaces. “A reminder to scoop up your broken pieces and love the new shape of your spirit” she says.  Her pieces include traces of 24k gold leaf set by hand in organic brass bezels. Her rectangular shaped vertical earrings symbolize grounding; the asymmetrical accessories come in sets of three. Tracey is inspired by ancient tribal jewelry creating a mystical modern feel. Her Zeit collection is described as giving protection from adverse energy.

Designer Azza Al-Hujairi was captivated by the Rich history and mythology of the Kingdom of Bahrain, where she is from. One of her most popular designs is the bull of horns, inspired by the goddess Ishtar. The Shutfah is a traditional headpiece worn by leaders and influential men, this tradition is rarely seen in modern day.  Azza is keeping her history alive by incorporating the traditional embroidery of the Shutfah through her casted hand made jewelry. Natural pearls selected from local sea beds further culminate the quality of her collection. The gold pacifier strategically placed on display is notably popular for her customers with baby boys in Bahrain. Azza is impressively a board member of the Bahrain Gold and Pearl Association. I have fallen in love with her exquisite craftsmanship and ode to her culture. This line has singlehandedly awoken my interest in pearls. Her jewelry incorporates them in such a dainty yet modern way.

Ritique by Ritika Atwal is timelessly elegant. The new magic wire collection was a standout. Perfect for women who love to workout or live comfortably in sport wear or athletic attire. Her pieces are beautiful and versatile. Yet simplistic enough to layer and stack, and a staple for everyday into evening. I travel often and deciding what jewelry will be travel safe is usually a hassle. I have found the solution with Ritique. I was elated to see more than one designer caring functionally fabulous bling. Kelly Below Design  features customizable graphic jewelry mixing precious metals with fine gemstones. Her mini letter rings, bracelets, earrings, necklaces and even bobby pins are an everyday staple.  Her heart chain bracelet with engraved initials of your choosing, are as noteworthy as her beautiful stackable gold bracelets.

Metal and Smith was indeed #notanothertradeshow. The laid back atmosphere was unique compared to other wholesale tradeshows. The open layout seemed to encourage conversations to flow freely.  I truly enjoyed engaging with each designer.
