Upon arrival the staff was very nice and dressed in all black. The wait is outside under the makeshift tents, black carpet and black ropes, with kiosks you scan your barcode at to move to the next line made you feel like you were waiting for the best ride your could experience.  Everyone chatter and amazing looks set the tone for the NYFW extravaganza. The excitement in the air is somewhat serene and the staff’s joy for their work is contagious. The smell of coffee blows from the inside and the fact that there’s traffic blowing right beside you makes the whole experience even more New York,  lol.  Women are the focus of the wall decor that’s in black and white with quotes that say “ when #womenleadtheway, everyone benefits.” The amount of organization for the venue, from the directions to the elevators makes the wait to enter feel even more exclusive.

When you walk in the room it is lined with simple white benches and the view of downtown is the major design of the room. Deep base sounds queue the start of the show and everyone gets silent, awaiting what’s to come. When the models start to walk out you can feel the atmosphere shift. With caps with no brims, sneaker sandals, and oversized bags accessorizing the clothes you automatically feel the intentional thought behind the collection. The summer fashion is cloaked in flowing fabrics, layers, bold prints and a certain joy to the clothes. The juxtaposition of clean and raw edges and sexy but casual aesthetics makes you want to grab every piece off the runway.

Damowang’s ability to make pencil skirts fun and flirty is quite astounding. The loud but soft nature of it all makes you feel like you can wear the pieces from day to night time. My personal favorite is the surprise piece that came out which is a shorts suit set that’s covered in sequins, match a dangling bag covered in shiny beads, the look can be worn as an everyday look or a night time showstopper. Damowang is definitely a name that I will never forget after what I saw and someone I will be watching from now on.
