Secteur 6 New York Fashion Week FW20

Kelly Cutrone abruptly seated last minute front row guests, as the Secteur 6 show commenced. Founder and CEO of People’s Revolution, Kelly has remained a force to be reckoned with in the Fashion PR world.  You may be familiar with her agency as it claimed household notoriety from the hit MTV series The Hills. I’m not ashamed to admit I couldn’t hide my excitement as I watched her hard at work focused on a seamless show, and that it was.

As the world’s first fully regenerative fashion brand, Secteur 6 specializes in organic manufacturing, new dying techniques, locally sourcing textiles, and even employing farmers. Perpetuating the mission to eliminate poverty in the Secteur 6 district of Delhi, India, brothers Amit and Punette Hooda have created game-changing textile innovations. In this collection bananas, rose petals, organic cotton, hemp bamboo, and plant-based viscose were all utilized. As as a fan of relaxed silhouettes, those are the ones that caught my attention. One of the styles being a fully 100% organic cotton ensemble, included a floral quilted patchwork kimono jacket, with matching floral print tunic and drawstring lounger. Another favorite of mine comprised of a monochromatic moss quilted cotton kimono jacket, rose petal silk kaftan, and a rose petal silk trouser. One of the pieces was made with bamboo and banana!

Secteur 6 is taking the trend of sustainable fashion to new heights. Striving to separate the brand from the negative impact fashion has had on the environment. I look forward to see how they progress and the continued success through future NYFW presentations.
