Sergio Hudson New York Fashion Week FW20

As a 90’s baby, I have always felt that I was born in the wrong era as I enjoy movies, music and style of the past, which has often labeled me as an “old soul”. To date, some of my favorite artists include Prince, Sade, Janet Jackson, En Vogue and the list goes on. Somehow, Sergio Hudson made my dreams come true by captivating all of my favorites within his collection. Watching the models grace the runway made me feel as though I was in a late 80’s/ early 90’s movie set. Like I was witnessing Robin Givens on the set of Boomerang handle business in the boardroom or Julia Roberts strut down Rodeo Drive in Pretty Woman. Sergio did not leave our imaginations to wander as he presented us with nostalgic voluminous hair, broad constructed shoulders, and form fitting mini skirt suits. The rich colors, intricate crystal embellishments and prints had every eye glued and had me wishing I owned each piece. It was hard to believe that this was his first-ever NYFW debut as I was left speechless and in awe because there were just no limits to this awesome madness!

The collection is for the bold and confident woman who does not mind being sexy, yet always demands respect. With the use of modern designs and classical silhouettes, this line targets any age group, especially the millennial who like me, loves to embrace her inner “old soul”. I am proud to admit that I am now a part of the Sergio Hudson fan club along with his elite clientele, that include Michelle Obama, sister in my head, Beyonce, Rihanna and many more. This show truly exceeded any expectation I could have had and I so look forward to his return to NYFW for seasons to come.
