Designer, Johnson Hartig mesmerized audiences yet again with his signature graphics, screen printing and anything but quiet-crystal embroidery for his FW21 collection. The cult favorite label Libertine whisked us away on a whimsical journey showcasing Hartig’s newest apparel. The line supersedes itself, filled with tones of romanticism, combining fantasy and surrealism. Libertine is always highly anticipated and continues to revolutionize ready to wear for men and women.

An exciting milestone was crossed this year as the brand turned 20. The normal fanfare of designing a full blown anniversary collection did not occur, however the significance was acknowledged. As Vogue emphasized; there were nods to the brand’s silk-screened vintage pieces and Hartig also collected all the different labels used over the years and attached them like asymmetrical fringe. Part of the allure to the brand are the hidden details among the brazen designs. A trench printed with words from a poem by Robert Burns “A winter’s Night”. Libertine continues to incorporate a more is more design sensibility while infusing subdued options found in interchangeable separates.

It’s impossible not to be impressed, awestruck even by Libertine’s bold designs. Let’s jump into the fantasy that the brand evokes and imagine we are at the Libertine New York Fashion Week after party. I imagine we would raise our glasses and say cheers to an overwhelmingly successful 20 years thus far, here’s to looking forward to at least 20 more.
